VORRA News http://www.vorra.org.au/news.php VORRA News Details <![CDATA[Cancellation of Rainbow Desert Enduro 560]]> http://www.vorra.org.au/news_details.php?blog_id=147
This decision was not made lightly, and due to the amount of voluntary work and effort that goes into organising and preparing a National event, with the unknown timeline of restriction changes and the risk of transmission of COVID–19, both publicly and within the sport, we have to make a call at this time.

Our members, Volunteers, Officials, Competitors and the Rainbow Township, are our number one priority when it comes to health and safety.

Motorsport Australia have been informed of our decision and of course they, like of all us, are disappointed, but fully respect and support our decision. There will be an official announcement from them also.

We trust that you respect our decision. VORRA and the Rainbow community, look forward to hosting the Rainbow Rises 240 in March 2021 and seeing as many of you there as possible.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at vorra.au@gmail.com.

<![CDATA[Rainbows record number of entries]]> http://www.vorra.org.au/news_details.php?blog_id=138
Rainbow Desert EnduroThis is a major boost for the event, with lots of sponsors and supporters coming on board this year.

Victorian Off Road Racing Association’s Tony Carabott is thrilled with the record number of competitors, hoping it would add to the event’s success.

“We are really happy because it’s a record for us because we have never had 55 crews and it’s really good,” Carabott said.

“We would have liked more but we are rapt that we have more than last year so we are pretty thankful.

“We have all the top runners for the Australian Championship and the Victorian championship, as well as the club shield so it’s going to be busy weekend.”

While there are a few big names missing from the entry list, the major players fighting for the title are locked in with Shannon Rentsch and Mark Burrows set to continue their battle for the top.
A number of class title contenders are also in with both Alexandra Howells and 2017 outright champion Matthew Martin both entered to fight it out for the Pro-Lite buggies.

SXS Turbo leader Nick Jackson will also have his hands full with Allen Henson, Greg Campbell and Roydn Bailey all vying for the class title, while less than 35 points separates SXS Sport leader Rick Chambers from John Wise and Chris Land.

The Hindmarsh Shire Rainbow Desert Enduro takes place in the rural Victorian town of Rainbow on 9 – 11 August.

See you there!

We would like to thank all the competitors that supported this new event, it was a great success. We had 24 competitors, with eight cars completing the full distance. The format was two groups of 4 heats and the conditions were dusty, with light showers.

The locals come out to watch and thanks to #420 Justin Watt for taking the local Mayor Ron Ismay for a lap of the track and showing him what it is like.

A big thank you to local community Rainbow Race Committee, they did a great job leading up to, during and after the event, to ensure the track and facilities were second to none and contributed to the success of the event. Along with catering and feeding the teams all day. Also the local medical team and the CFA, to ensure the health and safety of everyone.

Daren and Glen Wells once again provided commentary, which was entertaining and informative, thanks guys.

Thanks to Agritech for sponsoring the fasted beam car - congratulations #248 Peter Stevenson - he took home a 56 litre esky, 5 litre cooler jug and BBQ set.

All this wouldn't be possible without the support of DELWP and Graincorp for their ongoing support.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back in August for the Rainbow Desert Enduro.

The Rainbow Desert Enduro has been a round of the AORC since 2017 and has developed a reputation as one of the most gruelling and tough off road events on the Australian calendar.

Victorian Off Road Racing Association President Brett Price said the organising committee was looking forward to running a third successful event in 2019.

“We’ve got two years under our belts now and have been making improvements year on year and we’ve believe we’ve got a really great event,” said Price of the Enduro.

This year’s event saw the addition of several jumps in front of the spectator viewing area and track changes aimed at producing closer racing between the classes.

<![CDATA[Rainbow Desert Enduro Secured]]> http://www.vorra.org.au/news_details.php?blog_id=120 St George and Rainbow on for 2018 BFGoodrich AORC

NOVEMBER 2ND, 2017 AORC 2018, AORC 2017, NEWS
St George and Rainbow on for 2018 BFGoodrich AORC
womens fashion jewelry The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) can today confirm the St George 399 and the Rainbow Desert Enduro as rounds of the BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship (AORC) in 2018.

New to the calendar of Australia’s premier off road championship in 2017, the success of both events this year has ensured their inclusion again in 2018.

The St George 399, held in the small rural town of St George in Queensland’s south-west, will open the BFGoodrich CAMS AORC on 4-6 May.

With the Tatts Finke Desert Race confirmed as round two of the championship on 9-11 June, the Rainbow Desert Enduro will again be the third round of the BFGoodrich CAMS AORC, moving one week later to 10-12 August.

CAMS’ General Manager of Motor Sport Events Michael Smith was expecting big things from the two events in their second year.

“The St George 399 and the Rainbow Desert Enduro came on board with the BFGoodrich CAMS Australian Off Road Championship last year and provided new challenges for Australia’s best off road competitors,” Smith said.

“The feedback we received about both events was fantastic; competitors loved the newly-constructed course at St George and the support that the Rainbow Desert Enduro received from the locals in western Victoria was amazing.

“With one event now under their belts, we are expecting big things from both events in 2018.”

Hindmarsh Shire and the Victorian Off Road Racing Association are excited by the announcement that the Rainbow Desert Enduro will be a part of the AORC for the next three years.

Hindmarsh Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Greg Wood said: “The inaugural event was a huge success and a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our wonderful wide open spaces and friendly communities. We look forward to the Enduro continuing to grow in stature and becoming a “must visit” event for off road racers and off road fans!”

Kym Barber, President of the South East Queensland Off Road Racing Association (SEQORRA) said competitors can expect some new challenges at the 2018 St George 399.

“We will be extending the track by 20 kilometres for next year’s event so competitors can look forward to even more racing,” Barber said.

“We are continuing to build strong support from the local community as they prepare to welcome the event back to St George for the second time and we can’t wait to see everyone there in 2018.”

<![CDATA[Rainbow desert Enduro]]> http://www.vorra.org.au/news_details.php?blog_id=113
VORRA has been working hard for the last few months to secure a place to run a state round race. It is our good fortune that Rainbow was put into our hands to do this. We have massive support from the council and the comunity to run this race and it has been amazing to have so much support from them.

We think the track is awesome and will make evryone happy with lots of variety and plenty of fast areas to show what you can do. The Pit area is going to be the best around and we are very excited about our future at Rainbow, best mens watches

Recently we have been approached to have a think about running this great track as a National Championship Race, After lots of discussion and possitive respones from Rainbow and the committee at VORRA we decided to go with it. We will put our heart and souls into making this a great race that evryone will want to come back too.

We hope to see you all here to run this great event.

The CAMS Australian Off Road Championship is very excited to announce that the Rainbow Desert Enduro will be joining the 2017 championship season.
Located in the historic township of Rainbow in Victoria, the community has welcomed the event and are ecstatic about the Enduro set to roar into life from the 4-6 of August 2017.
Brett Price from The Victorian Off Road Racing Association says the event will be fantastic for the region.
“This event will not only add to Rainbow’s existing sporting and recreational offerings, but also increase awareness of tourism opportunities and features in the region,” Price said.
“We've just had a working bee last weekend with club members and the local community pitching in to help prepare the course.”
Competition vehicles will be located on Federal Street on the Friday for Scrutiny including a public display, as part of an opportunity for the community to get up close and personal with the cars and the crews. The event will then be followed by a prologue on Saturday and racing Sunday.
The track lap length is 80kms and is located in the township of Rainbow and the surrounding areas, some 400kms North-West of Melbourne.
In addition to the event being the 2017 AORC season finale, the Enduro will also be a round of the CAMS Victorian Off Road Championship.

<![CDATA[Sandown Display]]> http://www.vorra.org.au/news_details.php?blog_id=106 The Silver Fox was asked to be put on display out at Sandown on Friday.
CAMS had an event similar to a Motor Khana aimed at the younger 12 to 18 age group. There were 2 other displays there one being go carts and the other a formula V. They had the kids learning a few things in the cars out on the track and then were doing some tighter work in the car park between all the orange cones. Unfortunately this part was called off by Sandown as there were tyre marks being left on the carpark and this was not acceptable to Sandown so this drew all the people away from the displays. We managed to get to talk to a few people about our wonderful sport and gave them a flyer with VORRA's Face book and web site addresses on it along with a few others so they could watch some footage.A great idea by CAMS just fell a little short on the execution and communication. Lunch was provided and was very nice. fake watches
