Wandin 4x4 Show

VORRA gave 100+ free demonstration rides at Wandin 4x4 Show.

Thank you to all those involved and who gave up their time and cars to help promote the sport and VORRA. The spectators had an absolute ball, riding 2 laps of the short track, with a jump, tight corners and some whoops! The crowds certainly made their way over to see what was happening when they heard the noise and saw the dust.

A huge thank you to the following drivers for giving up their Sunday and cars for the free rides:

Condolences to the Conrad family

Funeral arrangements confirmed.

It is with great sadness that we advise that Gillian Conrad passed away suddenly on Monday 6 February, 2012.

Gill and her family joined VORRA back in the 1990s and she navigated for her father Gary and brother Travis on many occasions. She enjoyed off-road racing and was always having fun and a laugh with her family.

The VORRA Committee and members would like to express their condolences to Gary, Annette, Travis, Catherine and family, our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

VORRA Club Championship

VORRA Club Championship points have been updated to include all rounds. Congratulations to Peter Sibson who narrowly beat Cameron Lyne. Be sure to get to the club BBQ and presentation. More news to follow with newsletter.

Sibson wins ARB Highlands 150

The ARB Highlands 150, the final round of the Victorian Off Road Championship, has been run and won at Highlands this weekend. With nine crews classified as finishers, Peter Sibson and Jason Munro took outright position in their #412 Extreme 2WD Baja.

Matt Hanson’s race ended on lap six on Sunday with timing belt issues. David and Alice Middlemiss drove their #277 Super 1650 into second place with newcomer Luke Hall taking home a podium finish in the #810 Extreme 4WD.

Michael George and Joshua Sevenson #43 took Pro class while Andy and Karen Fox claimed class honours in Production 4WD.

Richard Harrington #398 had brake problems towards the final stages of today laps, hitting a tree in the Sportsman buggy, but managing to get to the finish line and record complete race distance.

Sept General Meeting cancelled

The September General Meeting has been cancelled, due to many other meetings and activities in the lead up to our event - ARB Highlands 150 on 17 & 18 September. Any queries, please contact president@vorra.org.au

ARB Highlands 150

Sup regs and entry forms are available here for VORRA's upcoming ARB HIGHLANDS 150 and it would be a great help to the club with planing if you could get your entry in ASAP. A full refund will be given as detailed in the regs if you are unable to attend.

We have spread the event out over 2 days and added an optional night sprint which is separately rewarded and not part of the day sections results.

The results of earlier working bees was checked during a track inspection on the 14th September and it looks great. Camping is free with toilets and showers available from Friday and the Highlands Primary School mums will be preparing more yummy food from Saturday breaky until after the race on Sunday. The Rover Scouts will be running a bar at reasonable rates throughout the weekend to make packing even easier. Ring Brett on 0418 313 656 if you have any questions.

Pines Enduro

Millicent Sand Buggy Club have undertaked extensive work on their track at Teagle's Quarry to overcome some of the problems experianced as a result of the heavier than normal rainfall they had leading up to and during the race last year. Supp regs and an entry form can be found here

Welcome to the new website

Welcome to the new VORRA web site, we are very proud of the way it's turned out and very appreciative to Andy and Karen Fox and the team at Fox Digital Web for their flair, professionalism, and patience. Their design team prepared lots of options for the logo and web site and made our job much easier.

With the clothing range by Sportzprint, this is the third and final stage of updating the clubs image. Have a look around and give us your feed back. This will be the main method of communication for the committee to the members and other Off Roaders. You can also leave comments to us about news items or any other issue you have in the contacts page.

We would love to help you to advertise your business which helps VORRA with the running costs.

We will be maintaining a gallery of pictures from as many races as we can get so if photography is your passion and you have a few pics from an event contact Brett Price for details. If you see any pictures you like you can contact the photographer directly or send me an email and I will connect you and for a very reasonable fee they will send you a high resolution file that you can get printed.

AORC Round 3 Replacement

Australian Off Road Championship Round 3 Replacement - Flinders 450 at Baroota

The Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) are pleased to announce a replacement for the recently cancelled event at Griffith.

Round 3 of the Australian Off Road Championship will now be held at Baroota in South Australia and be known as the Flinders 450, taking place July 22nd to 24th.

The Australian Off Road Commission wishes to thank the organisers at Baroota for their quick response and support of the Championship by providing the land, infrastructure and organisation to ensure this event is a great addition to the Australian Off Road Championship.

AORC registered competitors competing in the Tri Series, who had nominated Griffith as one of their rounds in the Tri-Series will have their nomination by default transferred to Baroota but can change this by contacting CAMS.
