STATEMENT - FRIDAY 27 AUGUST 2021 - EVENT CANCELLED
Dear Competitors, officials, volunteers and sponsors
It is with great regret that we announce that the 2021 Rainbow Desert Enduro, BF Goodrich Motorsport Australia Off Road Championship round has been cancelled.
This decision was made by the VORRA and Rainbow organising committees and was not made lightly, but due to the current COVID situation, border restrictions, State Government restrictions and lockdowns in place across many states in Australia, it makes the running of the event impossible. We are now four weeks out from the event and while some may consider it quite early to make this decision, many event organisers would know a lot goes into running a national event and there is a time where there is no turning back.
We have taken into consideration the local Rainbow community and the quantity of people visiting and volunteering from all over Australia, it is not an ideal situation. This concern has also been raised by the local health specialists, regarding community safety, and the impact on the local ageing community and local businesses.
Thank you to the 77 competitors who have supported our event and we look forward to seeing you in 2022. We are planning on again running the Rainbow Rises 240 in March of 2022 and hope you can join us. We will be in contact with competitors to organise entry refunds.
We would like to thank all those who have taken time to contribute to the organising and planning of the event, these include committee members, officials, club members, sponsors, and the local Rainbow community.
Take care and stay safe.
Tony Carabott, VORRA, President
